Suspected armed robbers on Wednesday launched an attack at the busy Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, targeting traders and pedestrians.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fired gunshots into the air to create panic and clear the area, allowing them to carry out the operation without resistance.
During the incident, an individual—whose identity has yet to be verified—was reportedly shot. However, it remains unclear whether the attackers stole any items before fleeing the scene.
According to information obtained by Drivetvnews, the robbers had escaped before security forces could respond.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the attack but assured that no fatalities were recorded.
He stated that an investigation is underway and emphasized the police command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property.
“There was no loss of life during the attack. The police are fully handling the situation, and efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible,” Osifeso said.
