JRB Construction Company Ltd, the newly assigned contractor for the Oyo–Ogbomoso dual carriageway, has pledged to complete the remaining work well before the official deadline of September 2026.
Joseph Onche, the company’s Technical Project Manager, made this known on Tuesday during a media briefing at the construction site in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The contract for the 52-kilometre road was previously held by Reynolds Construction Company but was revoked by the Federal Government on February 20. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the termination was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to fast-track the project’s completion.
Onche stated that JRB Construction took over with 36 kilometres left to finish and began operations immediately after the contract was re-awarded in March.
“We mobilised to the site promptly and have now been working for three months,” he said. “We’re confident that the road will be completed ahead of schedule. Although some people may doubt our capabilities, we are fully equipped, experienced, and committed to delivering a quality job.”
He added that the company had carried out a comprehensive assessment of the road’s condition before resuming construction and expressed confidence in the capacity of Nigerian firms to handle large-scale infrastructure projects successfully.
Ajmal Khan, the Project Manager at JRB Construction, also gave assurances to road users that the completed section would meet high standards of durability and quality.
Meanwhile, the Federal Controller of Works in Oyo State, Victor Aina, confirmed that construction was proceeding as agreed and in compliance with all regulatory standards.
“All materials used, including lateritic sub-base, are tested in the lab and verified on-site before being approved for use,” Aina said. “We are strictly following the specifications set by the Federal Ministry of Works.”
He stressed that the project is being executed to meet safety, durability, and quality expectations, emphasizing that the road serves as a major route linking the South-West and Northern regions of Nigeria.
