Popular Nigerian actress Dayo Amusa has publicly addressed rumors claiming she is HIV positive.

Drivetvnews gathered that  a content creator identified as Olaoluwa Segun recently shared a viral video alleging that the actress, along with four other Nigerian entertainers, is living with HIV.

In response, Dayo Amusa took to her Instagram page to set the record straight. She clarified that the claim was based on a 2019 post she made, which has now been taken out of context.

Amusa firmly stated that she is HIV negative. She explained that her original post six years ago was meant to raise awareness and educate people about the importance of knowing their HIV status. The intention, she said, was to encourage people to get tested and understand that living with HIV is not a death sentence if proper care is taken.

Reacting strongly to the misinformation, the actress expressed her outrage at being included in the misleading video without any factual basis. She warned the content creator and revealed plans to pursue legal action.

“The video that’s been circulating over the past 24 hours has nothing to do with the present reality,” she said. “It was based on a post I shared in 2019 to educate the public. It clearly stated I was HIV negative. It’s appalling that someone would twist that and falsely list me among those living with HIV without verifying the facts. I will not let this go unchallenged — you will be made an example.”
