The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Idi Buba for allegedly stabbing his father, Jelli Buba, to death during a dispute in the Fotta area of Gombi Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, July 28, during an argument between the father and son within their family compound.
Details of the case were shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his X (formerly Twitter) account. He revealed that Idi allegedly attacked his father with a knife, inflicting serious wounds to his neck and back. The victim was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was confirmed dead.
Makama stated that security personnel recovered the weapon suspected to have been used in the attack and deposited the victim’s body at a mortuary for autopsy. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
This incident comes just a day after a similar case was reported in Ondo State, where a woman, Augustina Mowari, allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during a disagreement over suspected infidelity. The case is being investigated by the Ondo State Police Command, according to its spokesperson, SP Olayinka Ayanlade.
In a related development earlier this year, the Niger State Police Command reported the death of a man, Mohammed Abo’ore, who was fatally stabbed while helping vigilante officers confront suspected criminals in the Fadikpe area of Minna. The attacker, identified as Nura Buhari, allegedly used a pair of scissors during the incident and fled the scene.
