The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) on Wednesday confiscated three rams and a cow in the Oluyole area of Ibadan.
The Chairperson of the agency, retired Justice Aderonke Aderemi, revealed this during an enforcement visit to the area. She was joined by retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Francis Ojomo, who currently leads the State Environmental Task Force.
Justice Aderemi explained that the action followed multiple complaints from residents of Unique Estate in Oluyole, who reported disturbances linked to stray animals.
She further issued a seven-day deadline to residents of Abidiodan in Lagelu Local Government Area to remove unauthorized shanties built on road setbacks. According to her, these makeshift structures have become shelter for criminal activities and other illegal operations.
Reaffirming the agency’s resolve, she stated that the enforcement of environmental, sanitation, and anti-open grazing laws would continue across the state.
“The owner of the seized livestock has seven days to claim them before they are permanently confiscated and fines are applied,” she said.
“In addition, residents of Abidiodan must clear all illegal structures on road setbacks within the same period, as those places have become security threats,” she added.
Justice Aderemi emphasized that enforcement efforts had officially begun, particularly targeting street trading, open grazing, and related infractions.
She noted that the state government had carried out extensive public awareness campaigns earlier in the year, beginning with a sensitization event at Bodija Market, and was now moving fully into the enforcement phase.
The operation included personnel from Operation Burst, the Environmental Task Force, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Amotekun Corps, among others.
