The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, alongside his associate, Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, following a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) presided over by Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi.
According to the statement, both Daniel and Folarin—who are members of the APC from Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area, respectively—were investigated by disciplinary committees set up at their wards.
The committees accused the duo of misconduct and anti-party behaviour and invited them to present their defence. However, the statement noted that they neither responded to the invitations nor attended the hearings.
The disciplinary panels alleged that the suspended members not only ignored the process but also attempted to intimidate party members and discourage cooperation with the investigation.
“In light of their deliberate absence and reported interference with the process, the committees proceeded with deliberations, reviewed available evidence, and resolved to suspend the two members indefinitely,” the statement read.
The SWC subsequently ratified the decision, emphasizing that the move was necessary to uphold party discipline and safeguard its constitutional values.
