Lagos police arrest a 38-year-old security guard for allegedly stealing generators and air conditioners worth ₦1.8 million from an apartment.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old security guard accused of breaking into a residential apartment and stealing valuables worth about ₦1.8 million.
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Saturday.
According to Hundeyin, officers from the Iju Division acted on a report from a resident in the Ifako area who returned home on August 15 to find his apartment burgled.
The stolen property included a Sumec generator, a Fireman generator, a National air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines.
“Investigations led detectives to the suspect, who was arrested in the same neighbourhood. He allegedly conspired with others who are still on the run,” Hundeyin explained.
The police stated that the stolen items have been recovered and that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Hundeyin added that the case will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, assured residents of intensified efforts to curb criminal activities and advised property owners to conduct proper background checks before employing security personnel.
