Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju says Peter Obi’s chances of becoming Nigeria’s President are over, arguing that even Atiku Abubakar stands a better chance ahead of 2027.
Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has stated that it is already too late for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to achieve his dream of becoming Nigeria’s President.
In a Facebook post, Adeyanju argued that even if Obi’s supporters—popularly called Obidients—adopt a new approach, the chances of him securing the presidency remain slim.
“Even if the Obidients change strategy, embrace moderation, and stop their online attacks, Obi still cannot become President of Nigeria. The opportunity has passed. Even Atiku has a better shot at the presidency than Obi,” Adeyanju said.
He further noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stands a stronger chance of emerging as the opposition candidate capable of challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Peter Obi, who ran for the top office under the Labour Party in 2023, is reportedly preparing for another presidential attempt in 2027. His recent collaboration with other opposition figures has boosted his support base, though it continues to attract criticism from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
