Delta State Police Command arrests officers caught in viral video counting cash inside patrol van, launches disciplinary action and internal investigation.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of officers filmed counting large sums of cash inside a patrol van with the inscription Area Command Asaba.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked public suspicion that the money might have been proceeds of extortion.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the officers were quickly identified and brought before the Commissioner of Police after the video surfaced.
According to him, two senior officers have been issued formal queries, while two inspectors are currently in detention pending an orderly room trial—the police’s internal disciplinary procedure.
Edafe assured that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken once the investigation is concluded.
