Evangelist Isaac Josiah, the lead pastor of Reclaimers Ministry in Benin City, Edo State, has begun handing out bras and other clothing to female members he believes are not dressed modestly during church services.
In a Facebook video from the church’s September 14 service, Josiah was seen giving out bras, wrappers, pyjamas and similar garments to women whose appearance he described as “indecent.” He explained that the gesture was meant to minimise distractions and promote discipline during worship.
Josiah instructed church ushers to distribute these items to women who appeared in revealing outfits, remarking that the church would provide bras to anyone who seemed unable to afford one. He added that those who refused the items could be assisted with transport fare to return home.
“If we cannot bring change here, you may need to find another church,” he said during the service, stressing that his goal was to uphold moral standards.
The pastor also criticised male congregants who sag their trousers or expose their underwear, warning that such dressing would no longer be tolerated. He noted that belts would also be purchased and handed out to men attending church without one.
Josiah further instructed ushers to cover breastfeeding mothers whose cleavage was exposed, stating that wrappers would be provided to help them maintain modesty in church.
He emphasised that Reclaimers Ministry is committed to raising disciplined Christians, warning that those looking for a place to dress “anyhow” should consider attending another church.
