The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out heavy airstrikes on bandit camps in Kakihun, Oke-Ode, Babanla, and nearby areas of Kwara State following an early Sunday attack on Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Armed assailants had invaded Ogbayo in Oke-Ode, firing indiscriminately at residents and local vigilantes. The incident left 12 people dead, including the Baale (community head) of Ogbayo.
In a statement on Monday, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said reconnaissance missions and close air support were launched to deter further attacks. Hostile groups detected east of Babanla were also targeted and neutralized.
Ejodame added that simultaneous surveillance flights monitored key communities and military positions, gathering intelligence to support troops on the ground.
According to him, the operations underscored NAF’s ongoing commitment to protecting civilians and military personnel, maintaining control of the airspace, and keeping up pressure on criminal elements. All missions were reported as successful.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains fully committed to defending the country’s territorial integrity and safeguarding communities from threats,” Ejodame said. “We urge citizens to stay vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and have confidence in ongoing efforts to restore peace and security nationwide.”
