The Lagos State Government has named popular social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, widely known as Mandy Kiss, as an ambassador for its campaign against drug and substance abuse.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made the announcement at a Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA) event held on Tuesday.

Speaking during the unveiling, Ogunlende described drug misuse as a growing crisis across communities and stressed that collective action is required.

“Drug abuse is a pandemic affecting our streets and our society. The government cannot fight this alone; we need partners who can reach more people. Mandy Kiss has a strong following, and we believe her voice can make a difference,” he said before formally conferring the ambassadorship.

He urged Lagos residents to support the campaign by rejecting substance abuse.

Background and Controversy

The announcement follows recent controversy around Mandy Kiss, who earlier declared plans to set a Guinness World Record by engaging in sexual activity with 100 men in one day. The proposed event, scheduled for September 30 in Ikorodu, Lagos, drew public criticism.

In response, Guinness World Records clarified that it does not monitor or endorse sexual acts as a record category and distanced itself from the claim. Mandy Kiss later described the declaration as a joke, though the comment had already sparked outrage, with some critics calling for government sanctions.

Hope for Impact

Despite the backlash, the Commissioner expressed confidence in the influencer’s potential contribution to the anti-drug campaign.

“Everyone has a past; no one is perfect. What matters now is how she uses her platform. As a LASKADA ambassador, we hope she will help carry the anti-drug message into every part of Lagos,” he said.

Details of Mandy Kiss’s specific roles and planned activities under the campaign have not yet been disclosed.

About LASKADA

The Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse initiative is responsible for coordinating multi-sector responses to drug abuse, focusing on advocacy, community outreach, education, research, and policy influence.
