The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued ten victims, including women and children, who were kidnapped months ago from Kushe Makaranta in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the victims were freed after a series of coordinated operations involving the police, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Hassan recalled that in May 2025, about 14 armed men stormed the Kushe Makaranta community, abducting several residents and taking them to a forest near the Rijana area. Continuous pressure from security forces eventually forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims and escape.

He noted that “on October 7, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., operatives successfully rescued the kidnapped victims.”

The rescued persons were identified as Helen Abraham (25), Rosemary Elisha (25), Jummai Istifanus (23), Hauwa’u Sule (13), Mary Sunday (12), Kelvin Abraham (3), Devine Elisha (1), Jeremiah Istifanus (1), Christabeth Abraham (9 months), and Hauwa Sulaiman (13) — all residents of Kushe Makaranta, Kagarko LGA.

After their rescue, the victims were taken to the police clinic for medical evaluation. They received treatment and observation for two days before being reunited with their families.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the operatives for their professionalism and tireless efforts. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Kaduna residents, assuring that the fight against banditry and other criminal activities will continue relentlessly.
