The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who previously accused him of causing divisions within the party have now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike made this statement on Wednesday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Main Carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), stretching from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, near the Shoprite Junction in the Apo area of Abuja.

The former Rivers State governor recalled that some PDP members had criticized him for accepting a ministerial appointment under President Bola Tinubu’s APC-led administration. However, he noted that those same individuals have now joined the ruling party.

Wike remarked, “Those who accused me of wanting to destroy the PDP and working for the APC are now officially in the APC. I’m very happy because, soon, I’ll address Nigerians. I’ve been watching the same people who once claimed I was destabilizing the party — now they are fully in the APC.”

He added that, rather than faulting him, his critics should appreciate him for paving the way for their eventual defection to the ruling party.

The minister also reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the FCT and assured residents that the ongoing infrastructure projects would be completed as planned.
