The Delta State Police Command has detained four suspected cult members after a distressing video surfaced online showing the initiation of a five-year-old boy in Sapele, Delta State.
The viral clip revealed the men blindfolding the child and compelling him to drink alcohol while chanting cult-related words. The frightened boy cried and resisted as the men continued their actions.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and condemned their actions as cruel and unacceptable.
“These suspects have been taken into custody for the terrible act committed against this innocent child,” Edafe said.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, directed the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Police Headquarters for detailed investigation and possible prosecution.
Edafe also shared the update on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, assuring the public that justice would be served and more details would be provided as the investigation continues.
