The Ondo State Government has confirmed awareness of a security memo issued by the Department of State Services (DSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, which warned of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, said the alert was part of regular intelligence exchanges among security agencies and the government.
According to him, such reports are common in security operations and are aimed at identifying potential threats before they escalate. “These intelligence briefings help security agencies coordinate surveillance, strengthen preventive measures, and respond swiftly to any danger,” he explained.
Ajanaku assured residents that the government was already collaborating with security agencies to act on the intelligence and safeguard communities across the state.
“The focus is on maintaining vigilance and effective coordination between security agencies and the government to forestall any possible attack,” he added.
He urged the people of Ondo State to stay calm but alert, and to immediately report any suspicious movement or activity to nearby security authorities.
“We want to reassure residents that every necessary step is being taken to protect lives and property. We appeal to everyone to go about their normal activities peacefully, avoid taking the law into their hands, and continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies,” Ajanaku said.
