Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), reportedly collapsed while in detention at Kuje Prison.
Sources confirmed that Ejimakor was immediately taken to the Kuje Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
One of Kanu’s legal representatives, Maxwell Opara, disclosed the development to Daily Post on Saturday.
When asked to confirm the incident, Opara said, “Yes, I went to see him, and he’s currently being treated at the Kuje Medical Centre. I left there a few hours ago. The collapse happened before I arrived. We got there around noon and heard the news. As one of his colleagues, I insisted on seeing him, and the authorities eventually allowed me. I saw Sowore and others before they took me to his ward.”
The incident occurred just a day after the presiding judge of the Kuje Magistrate Court, Abubakar Umar Sai’id, declined to sign Ejimakor’s bail bond for his release.
Ejimakor was arrested on Monday alongside 12 others, including Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu. They were detained during a protest in Abuja demanding Kanu’s release.
Following their arrest by the Nigeria Police Force, the group was arraigned before the Kuje Magistrate Court.
