Veteran Yoruba movie star Peju Ogunmola has announced her comeback to the screen, months after the tragic death of her son, Ayomikun.

Ogunmola, a respected figure in the Yoruba film industry and daughter of late theatre icon Kola Ogunmola, stepped away from acting to mourn her loss. The incident drew widespread sympathy from colleagues and fans, including notable Nollywood personalities like Funsho Adeolu and Foluke Daramola, who consoled her and her husband, famous comedian Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe.

On Saturday, the actress shared an emotional video on Instagram with the caption “A new month, a new dawn,” expressing deep gratitude to everyone who supported her during her painful period.

She revealed that she struggled with depression following her son’s passing but was strengthened by messages of love, prayers, and support from around the world.

“These past months have been heavy, but your love and prayers lifted me. The pain is still there, but I rise today because I know my son would want me to continue. I am back to embrace my passion again,” she said, partly speaking in Yoruba.

Ogunmola also referenced a Christian hymn, affirming her renewed faith and acceptance as she moves forward.

“Whether times are easy or difficult, God remains the Most High,” she added.
“To my colleagues, producers, and directors — I am back, stronger and ready to work. Let’s create magic once more.”

The actress, celebrated for her decades-long contribution to stage and screen productions, assured fans that she is prepared to return fully to the craft she loves.
