The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, identified as Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a violent quarrel at a beer parlour in Demsa Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on November 6, 2025, after a disagreement between the couple escalated into a deadly confrontation. Eyewitnesses reported that Peter, in a fit of rage, attacked his wife with a knife and an axe, stabbing her multiple times while under the influence of alcohol.
Police officers from the Demsa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), responded quickly after receiving a distress call. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Her remains have been deposited in the mortuary for an autopsy.
According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect has been taken into custody, and the weapons used in the crime have been recovered.
Condemning the act, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris described the killing as “barbaric and unfortunate,” directing the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the suspect faces justice.
Morris also warned residents against domestic violence, urging couples to resolve disputes peacefully and seek mediation before conflicts turn fatal.
“The Command will ensure that justice is served and that no offender escapes lawful punishment,” he assured.
