Nigerian actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom after spending more than three years in custody over allegations of sexual assault.
He was released on Friday, November 14, 2025, following a decision of the Appeal Court which cleared him of the charges.
Actor Yomi Fabiyi announced his release in a post on Instagram, celebrating the court’s verdict. He wrote that Baba Ijesha was now “officially free” and stated that the Appeal Court cleared him of claims relating to the alleged defilement case involving a minor.
Baba Ijesha was previously sentenced to 16 years in prison on July 14, 2022, by the Lagos State High Court over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
