Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared that his burial should take place no later than four weeks after his death. He also outlined the specific arrangements he wants followed, stating that the Ekiti State Government should take full responsibility for his body and burial.

In a six-minute video posted on YouTube by City Edge TV on Saturday, the former governor—who turned 65—spoke openly about his wishes.

He said: “Death is inevitable. My body belongs to the Ekiti State Government. I’m sending a letter to the governor. No matter when I die, the state government must take charge of my remains.”

Fayose explained that the four-week timeline is to allow the government adequate time to prepare for his burial.

He also instructed his children to wear their own clothes and follow government directions when the time comes.

Speaking on his preferred burial place, he said he wants to be laid to rest in the garden at his grandmother’s residence, adding that the site should remain undisturbed after his burial.

“If you want to show me love, do it now. Don’t wait until I’m gone,” he said.

City Edge TV also shared a 20-minute video from Fayose’s birthday thanksgiving event, where King Sunny Ade performed as the former governor danced.

Several political figures extended birthday wishes to Fayose. The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, described him as a “valuable friend and brother” who always speaks his mind. Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, through his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, praised Fayose’s longstanding contributions to the state and called him a leader who connects deeply with the people.
