The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has expressed profound sorrow over a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of seven individuals from Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area.
The victims were reportedly traveling to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding when the accident occurred.
In a statement released by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, Governor Yahaya described the incident as a heartbreaking loss that affects not only the bereaved families but also the entire Lawanti community and the state. He emphasized that no words can truly console those who have lost loved ones in such tragic circumstances.
The governor extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased, highlighting the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, who lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari, who lost his daughter; and Idris A. Isah Lawanti, the Akko Ward Councillor, who also lost close relatives.
Governor Yahaya prayed for strength, patience, and resilience for the affected families and the Lawanti community while asking Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the departed, accept their good deeds, and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.
The Gombe State Government reaffirmed its support for the families during this difficult period and called on the community to come together in prayer and solidarity.
