On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, a man identified as Mr. Kunle Bankole was discovered dead inside his vehicle in Kilomodemo Community, Jeje area, Apete, Ibadan, Oyo State, after being parked for about four hours.
According to reports, the Honda CR-V with registration number KJA 950 CX was left on a narrow, untarred driveway with the gear in parking mode, ignition on, and all four door windows rolled down. Bankole was seated in the driver’s seat, appearing as if he were resting, with his head tilted to the right.
Residents who noticed him remaining motionless for several hours alerted the Olorunsogo, Jeje-Apete Community chairman, Mr. Muyideen Adeyemi. Mr. Adeyemi said, “I was called around 3 pm that a vehicle was parked with the driver inside. Upon arrival, I saw he was not moving and showed no signs of breathing. The ignition was running, and the doors were rolled down, which raised concern.”
He immediately informed the Apete Divisional Police Officer, who, along with other officers, went to the scene. A medical doctor called by the police examined Bankole and confirmed him dead, with cardiac arrest suspected as the cause of death. Checks revealed that he had malaria and was on medication.
The police and their team later removed the vehicle and the body from the location. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, adding that the family has been notified and the remains have been taken to a hospital morgue.
Investigations into the circumstances of Bankole’s death are ongoing.
