The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in Mowe for allegedly conspiring and unlawfully possessing a human skull.
The arrest, confirmed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, took place on January 8, 2026. According to him, the suspects have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigations.
A local trader, who requested anonymity, revealed that the suspects were traced to Mowe but likely committed the alleged crime elsewhere. He added that residents promptly reported the matter to the Amotekun Corps, which confirmed receiving similar intelligence from neighboring communities. The Corps, however, admitted they were under-resourced to respond effectively and advised that other security agencies be alerted.
This incident follows a previous case in August 2025, where two men, Kadir Owolabi and Jamiu Yisa, were prosecuted after being found in possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu area of Ogun State. Owolabi was intercepted while riding a motorcycle along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway near Oru Ijebu, while subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Yisa, a 53-year-old resident near the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.
Police authorities continue to investigate the source of the skull and the suspects’ level of involvement in the crime.
