The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested three men suspected of being involved in a kidnapping operation in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
The police also recovered several locally made weapons during the operation.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, the suspects—Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo, and Ali Alhaji Jemu—were arrested at Bagudo Market following actionable intelligence.
Usman said the suspects are believed to be connected to the abduction of a 55-year-old man from Bani Koso Village. During the arrest, officers recovered two locally fabricated firearms, one cartridge, and three machetes.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation. The suspects are expected to be charged to court after the investigation is completed.
The police command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to help combat crime in the state.
