The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered stolen goods valued at ₦31,750,000 following an armed robbery incident in Ibadan.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the arrests were made after credible intelligence from members of the public. The case involved a report that Ezekiel Inije was robbed at gunpoint by a five-man gang around the Coca-Cola area of Asejire in Ibadan.

The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, directed the CP Monitoring Unit to launch an immediate operation. Using intelligence gathering and investigative techniques, officers traced the suspects to the Oko area of Ogbomoso.

The suspects identified as Chigbo Mesoma (24), Erondu Wisdom (29), and Okechukwu Emmanuel (25) were apprehended during the operation.

Recovered items include a Howo Long truck bearing Lagos registration number AAA 724 YJ, loaded with 2,000 bags of Karma Agric Chicken Feeds valued at ₦31,750,000. A cutlass and an additional Lagos vehicle number plate, LSR 339 XW, were also recovered.

CP Haruna commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism, noting that their efforts led to the successful recovery. He also appreciated members of the public whose timely information aided the operation, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime.

The Commissioner assured residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the robbery syndicate, which he described as notorious for highway robberies and hijacking of goods. He added that those arrested are cooperating with investigators and have admitted involvement in the crime.

The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining security in the state and urged residents to continue providing useful information, assuring them that all tips would be treated with confidentiality.
