Popular Yoruba gospel artiste Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the renowned Adegbodu Twins, has died.
The announcement was made on Sunday through a statement shared on the duo’s official Facebook page by their management team. In the emotional message, the family described his passing as sudden and heartbreaking, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
Fellow gospel musician Esther Igbekele also confirmed the news on her Instagram page, where she posted a photo of the late singer and paid tribute to him in Yoruba.
As of the time of this report, the cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Taiwo performed alongside his twin brother, Kehinde Adegbodu. The pair gained widespread recognition in the Yoruba gospel music scene following the release of their debut album, Faratimi (Lean on Me), in 1999.
Over the years, the Adegbodu Twins became celebrated for their spiritually uplifting songs and strong cultural influence within Christian music circles. Some of their well-known tracks include Shower Your Blessing, God Concert, Emi Mimo, Igbagbo Dun, Ma Beru, and Adura Mi Gba.
News of Taiwo Adegbodu’s passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow gospel artistes across Nigeria, who have described him as a gifted minister of music whose legacy will endure.
