Residents of Odo-Eri in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have been thrown into fear after a local farmer, identified as Agbeji, was kidnapped while working on his farmland.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday when armed men, believed to be bandits, suddenly stormed the community and forcibly took the farmer to an unknown location. As of now, there has been no communication from the abductors, and Agbeji’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The abduction has intensified concerns about the growing insecurity in rural parts of Nigeria, where farming settlements are increasingly being targeted by armed groups. Many residents have reportedly abandoned their farmlands due to fears of similar attacks.
Community members have called on security agencies to increase patrols around remote farms and forested areas to prevent further kidnappings and ensure the safe return of Agbeji.
