Israel has announced that Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, was killed during an overnight operation in Tehran.
The claim was made by Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, who said the strike targeted senior figures within Iran’s security structure amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
According to Katz, the operation also eliminated a commander of the Basij paramilitary force. He stated that the action was part of a broader effort to weaken Iran’s leadership and disrupt its strategic capabilities.
The Israeli military, Israel Defense Forces (IDF), was said to have carried out extensive operations targeting military infrastructure, missile systems, and other key assets across Iran, with the aim of limiting the country’s operational strength.
The development comes shortly after the United States announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the location of several high-ranking Iranian officials.
In a recent statement, US authorities said individuals who provide credible intelligence on key figures within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) could also be eligible for relocation to the United States.
Among those reportedly listed were prominent figures such as Mojtaba Khamenei and Ali Larijani.
The situation highlights escalating geopolitical tensions in the region, with ongoing military actions and intelligence efforts intensifying between the involved nations.
