Governor Seyi Makinde has announced a temporary salary increase for workers in Oyo State to ease the burden of rising fuel costs.
The governor revealed that all state and local government workers will receive an additional ₦10,000 monthly for an initial period of three months, starting in April.
He explained that the measure is intended to help workers cope with increased transportation and living expenses caused by the recent fuel price hike. He also noted that the support may be extended if economic conditions do not improve.
Makinde added that the initiative could be expanded to include individuals outside the state’s workforce, assuring that efforts would be made to ensure a fair and inclusive distribution.
He further emphasised his administration’s commitment to sustaining policies that benefit residents, especially as his tenure approaches its final phase.
