Security operatives under Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a 28-year-old woman, Mrs. Member Ityavber, who was abducted in Tse-Ubena village, located in the Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area in Benue State.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Acting Media Information Officer of the operation, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu. He explained that the mission was carried out in collaboration with personnel from the Benue State Civil Protection Guard.
According to the statement, troops were mobilised following reports of kidnapping activities in the area. Soldiers deployed from Tor-Donga, alongside local security operatives, conducted a coordinated operation that led to the victim’s safe rescue.
In a separate operation, troops acting on credible intelligence arrested two suspected armed herders in Mbapa and Mbabuande communities within Gwer West Local Government Area.
The military also reported discovering an abandoned hideout believed to have been used by criminal elements during a search of the area. Further clearance operations extended across River Akpako resulted in the apprehension of the suspects, who are currently in custody for further investigation.
The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, praised the troops for their swift and professional response. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force to maintaining security, especially as residents prepare for the upcoming farming season.
