Suspected gunmen have abducted a Fulani herdsman identified as Yahaya Sulaiman in Osun State, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding ₦70 million for his release.
The incident occurred on Monday night along the Iloko–Ijebu Jesa Road in Oriade Local Government Area. According to local sources, the attackers specifically searched for the victim before eventually identifying and abducting him.
Security sources disclosed that Sulaiman, known to be a prominent cattle rearer in the area, appeared to have been deliberately targeted by the gunmen. The abductors later contacted his family and demanded a ransom payment.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said officers responded after the case was reported and immediately launched an investigation.
The police spokesperson stated that preliminary findings indicated the kidnappers intentionally sought out the victim. He also appealed to members of the public with useful information to assist security agencies in rescuing the herdsman.
