President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria has emerged from its most difficult economic period, saying his administration is now steering a more stable economy while assuring citizens that the benefits of ongoing reforms will become more evident in the coming months.
Drivetvnews gathered that the President made the remarks on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while receiving members of Aseyori Tinubu, a research group led by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim.
Tinubu said the growing interest of multinational companies and foreign investors in Nigeria reflects the impact of his administration’s reform agenda and the collective efforts of Nigerians across different sectors.
He commended Ambassador Ibrahim for his performance at the United Nations and encouraged him to remain focused on advancing Nigeria’s interests, including efforts to secure a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
According to the President, the country’s economy has overcome its toughest phase and is now on a path toward sustained recovery.
“The economy has passed the darkest tunnel. We will continue to improve, and the recovery is already taking shape. We are running a very stable economy,” Tinubu said.
He also highlighted progress in key sectors, pointing to the continued implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which recently received additional funding from assets recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Tinubu further stated that industrial production is improving, while reforms are creating conditions for economic growth.
He noted that prolonged strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had become a thing of the past, allowing students to remain in school, and added that security conditions across the country were improving.
The President urged the research group to continue providing ideas and policy recommendations that would strengthen Nigeria’s political and economic development.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing the administration’s economic reforms as a major factor in improving Nigeria’s image internationally.
He said the reforms had attracted increased foreign investment interest across several sectors and pledged to continue working toward Nigeria’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
