Governor Mohammed Bago has declared his administration’s readiness to take decisive action against bandits and their collaborators across Niger State.
Speaking in a video shared online, the governor warned individuals aiding or sheltering criminal groups to surrender themselves to security agencies or face serious consequences. His remarks followed a recent visit to Borgu Local Government Area, where he met with the emir to discuss the growing impact of insecurity on education and farming.
Bago noted that banditry has severely disrupted daily life in the state, particularly affecting schools and agricultural activities. He said students are increasingly unable to attend boarding schools, while farmers are prevented from carrying out their work.
The governor revealed that his administration has received support from the Federal Government as well as international partners to strengthen security operations. He stressed that the state is now fully prepared to intensify its crackdown on criminal elements.
He also called on residents to cooperate with authorities by providing useful information and refusing to harbour suspects. According to him, advanced technology has been deployed to track communications linked to criminal activities, and anyone found collaborating with bandits will be treated as part of the network.
Bago reiterated that tackling insecurity requires collective effort, urging communities to work with security agencies to restore peace and stability across the state.
