A woman identified as Favour Ayuba has expressed deep grief following the death of her son, Promise, who was killed during a recent attack in Jos.
In a widely circulated video, the grieving mother spoke emotionally, revealing that she had not eaten since the incident, which occurred on Palm Sunday. The attack, carried out by suspected gunmen in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North, reportedly claimed over 20 lives and left several others injured.
During the funeral, Ayuba was seen placing a cutlass inside her son’s coffin while speaking tearfully in Hausa. Her words reflected her deep pain and emotional distress over the loss.
She recalled carrying her son for nine months and raising him, expressing how difficult it has been to cope with his sudden death. She also mentioned that the day of the burial coincided with his birthday, adding to her sorrow.
Drawing a reference from the biblical figure Gideon, she spoke about strength and victory, expressing hope and faith despite the tragic circumstances.
The incident is part of a series of violent attacks in Plateau State, which have heightened concerns about security in the region and left many families mourning their loved ones.
