Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has strongly criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as the worst government he has experienced in his lifetime.
Drivetvnews gathered that Atiku made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Arise News, where he discussed Nigeria’s economic situation, his political plans, and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the current administration has failed to deliver across key sectors, expressing deep dissatisfaction with its performance.
“Everything is wrong with President Bola Tinubu,” he said, adding that in his view, “this is the worst administration I have seen in this country.”
When asked to explain further, Atiku pointed to the state of the economy as a major concern, saying he was “terribly disappointed” with the direction of governance under Tinubu.
He noted that although the president is from the same generation as himself, he expected better leadership outcomes at the federal level.
Speaking on how he would address Nigeria’s challenges if elected, Atiku stressed that security remains the foundation for national development.
He argued that without peace and stability, efforts in job creation, infrastructure, and healthcare would not succeed.
Atiku, however, declined to reveal his detailed political strategy for defeating Tinubu in a future election, saying such plans could not be made public.
He also referenced insecurity in Nigeria, recalling the early days of the Boko Haram insurgency, and claimed that stronger action during his time in government helped contain the group at the time.
He maintained that Nigeria has the capacity to overcome its current security problems but lacks effective leadership.
Atiku further claimed he enjoys strong political support in northern Nigeria and said no other major northern politicians currently match his level of electoral influence.
