The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has stated that Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 elections has already been determined by divine will.
Drivetvnews gathered that He made this remark during a workers’ gathering at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, explaining that the outcome of leadership is ultimately guided by God rather than human effort alone.
According to him, while citizens can participate in the political process, the final decision rests with God. He advised Nigerians not to be overwhelmed by political tensions, urging them to remain calm and maintain faith.
Adeboye encouraged people to stay engaged in civic responsibilities but emphasized the importance of prayer as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the elections.
The cleric also addressed remarks by Omoyele Sowore, who had described him and other prominent pastors as leading figures among Christians in the country. Adeboye clarified that he does not see himself as the overall spiritual leader of Christians nationwide.
He explained that such a role belongs to the Christian Association of Nigeria, whose president represents Christians at the national level, while he remains focused on his responsibilities within his denomination.
Adeboye further dismissed claims suggesting that his church is aligned with any political party, noting that the church has consistently spoken on national issues affecting citizens.
He added that if the Christian body were to organise a peaceful protest on governance matters, he would support such an initiative, stressing that his stance is based on principles rather than political loyalty.
The pastor also stated that although politicians are free to attend church services, they would not be allowed to use the altar as a platform for political campaigning.
