The Ogun State Security Network Agency has arrested five individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities during a security operation in a forested area near Rounder in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Drivetvnews gathered that the arrests followed intelligence reports and ongoing surveillance in the area, which had raised concerns among nearby communities over increasing security threats.
Sources within the corps revealed that the operation began late on April 29 with the arrest of two suspects, aided by local hunters familiar with the terrain. Security operatives later intensified efforts, leading to the capture of three more suspects roughly 13 hours later in the same forest.
The operation was reportedly triggered by repeated complaints from residents who had noticed unusual movements and suspected criminal activity within the area.
The suspects had allegedly been under close watch before the coordinated raid was carried out, allowing security personnel to act strategically.
Confirming the development, Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson of the state police command, said the suspects have been transferred to the police for further investigation.
He added that authorities are working to determine the extent of their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Security agencies have assured residents of continued efforts to safeguard lives and property, stressing the importance of collaboration between local vigilantes and formal security bodies.
Residents were also encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity as authorities intensify operations to combat crime in the state.
