In a crackdown on internet fraud, commonly known as “yahoo-yahoo,” operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ilorin Zonal Command arrested 48 students of Kwara State University and two Malete residents in Moro Local Government Area.The arrest, as revealed by Dele Oyewale, the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity in Ilorin, followed credible intelligence indicating a surge in cybercrime activities, particularly among students in the state.Determined to combat corruption and related illicit activities, EFCC operatives conducted discreet investigations, leading to the apprehension of the suspects in various locations on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.Among those arrested are individuals like Idris Yekini, Ayantola Segun, Adeshina Taheeb, Mustapha Alamin, Usman Harun, Oladimeji Oseni, Qudus Temitope, and many others.The seized items include nine exotic cars, 24 laptops, and various brands of mobile phones.Ongoing investigations will precede the prosecution of the suspects, as confirmed by Oyewale.
