The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three students, including a 12-year-old, over a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa and recovered weapons allegedly intended for use during the planned gathering.
The suspects, aged 12, 18 and 18, were arrested following intelligence received by the police about a planned cult-related event reportedly tagged “Kito Day.” The gathering was allegedly expected to involve students from different secondary schools in the area.
According to the police, the operation was carried out on Thursday, October 22, 2026, after officers received information about the planned activity.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode-Yewa reportedly responded by deploying a team of detectives, working alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, to the identified location.
The operation led to the arrest of the three students and the recovery of several items suspected to be connected to the planned gathering.
The recovered items included an English axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.
The police said the suspects had been taken into custody, while the recovered items would be used as evidence during further investigations.
The case was scheduled to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Friday, October 23, 2026, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
