In a tragic incident at Ajede, near J4 on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway, two people lost their lives, while 13 others suffered injuries in an accident on Saturday.
Confirming the event to Drivetvnews reporters in Abeokuta, Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, disclosed that the collision occurred around 12:10 pm involving a Toyota Hiace bus with the plate number GUE 59 ZY and a truck registered as BGT 94 LG.
Excessive speeding was identified as the primary cause, leading the bus driver to collide with a stationary truck parked along the roadside, Okpe clarified. She noted that among the 15 individuals involved—comprising 10 men and five women—13 sustained injuries, resulting in two fatalities.
Okpe added that the injured victims received medical attention at Hope Hospital near J4, while the deceased were transported to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Morgue.
In response to the incident, Sector Commander Anthony Uga emphasized the importance of avoiding incorrect parking on highways. He urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and prioritize safe driving practices to prevent such tragedies.
