Armed bandits have reportedly killed four residents and abducted 11 others during separate attacks on communities in Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
According to local sources, the attacks occurred between Saturday and Monday, targeting several villages across Southern Kaduna. Residents said the incidents have continued despite alleged attempts to downplay the worsening security situation in the region.
In Kachia LGA, the attackers invaded Mafofadiya and Zagom Mazuga villages, where a resident identified as Joel Dauda was killed. Seven others — Leo Bakut, Kefas Hilary, Vitoria Leo, Cristiana Joel, Iseal Joel, Hannatu Iseal, and Israel James — were reportedly abducted and taken to an unknown destination.
Meanwhile, in Kajuru LGA, bandits attacked Kallah and Kufana villages, killing multiple residents and kidnapping four others. Among those abducted were the pregnant wife of Jagora Dabo, one of the victims, along with their children.
Residents identified two of the deceased in Kallah village as Jagora Dabo and Misali Adamu. Another person was reportedly killed in Kufana village, although the victim’s identity had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
The latest attacks have heightened concerns over persistent insecurity in Southern Kaduna, where communities continue to face frequent kidnappings, killings, and violent raids. Many residents expressed frustration over what they describe as inadequate reporting of the incidents and questioned the effectiveness of existing government strategies aimed at curbing banditry.
Community members have called on security agencies and government authorities to strengthen protective measures, secure vulnerable settlements, and ensure those responsible for the attacks are brought to justice.
