Portable has apologised to fans and organisers after abruptly quitting his celebrity boxing rematch against actor Charles Okocha following the opening round of their bout on Friday night.
Drivetvnews gathered that In a statement released by his management, Zeh Nation/Dr Zeh, the singer expressed regret over the incident and apologised to Balmoral Group, the event organisers, supporters, family members and everyone who attended the contest.
The management acknowledged that Portable’s decision to withdraw disappointed many fans but appealed for understanding and respect for his choice.
It accepted responsibility for the outcome, thanking supporters for standing by the singer while promising to learn from the experience and return stronger in future events.
The celebrity boxing rematch had attracted significant attention after Charles Okocha activated the rematch clause following his defeat to Portable in their first encounter in December 2023. In the build-up to the fight, both entertainers traded insults on social media and vowed to settle their rivalry in the ring.
Portable also entered the contest seeking redemption after losing an earlier celebrity boxing match to content creator Carter Efe this year, while Okocha was determined to avenge his previous defeat.
However, the contest ended unexpectedly when Portable refused to continue after the first round, leading to Okocha being declared the winner by technical retirement. The outcome sparked widespread reactions online before Portable’s management issued a public apology, promising better performances in future bouts.
