The Oyo State Government has revealed plans to recruit 7,500 teaching and 3,000 non-teaching personnel for its public secondary schools. Akinrade Alamu, Chairman of the Oyo State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), stated that this initiative aims to address staffing gaps in both teaching and administrative roles within the state’s secondary education system.

Alamu emphasized that the addition of these 7,500 teaching and 3,000 non-teaching staff members will significantly bolster the workforce capacity of public secondary schools across Oyo State. This recruitment drive follows the successful hiring of 5,000 teachers in 2021, underscoring Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to enhancing the quality of post-primary education in the state.

Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Education, assured that the recruitment process will prioritize transparency and meritocracy. He announced that interested candidates, including those with disabilities, are required to register online and submit the necessary documents.

Alamu highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency and adherence to guidelines, citing the positive reception of the 2021 recruitment process by stakeholders, including the World Bank Global Partnership on Education. He stressed the need for applicants to possess a National Identification Number, functional email address, and valid phone number.

Furthermore, Alamu cautioned against applying for both teaching and non-teaching positions simultaneously, emphasizing that applicants must choose one category only. The recruitment process will consist of online applications, computer-based testing (CBT), and oral interviews, with Alamu reiterating that the entire process is free of charge, in accordance with the World Bank Global Partnership on Education’s guidelines.
