Former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has embarked on a new chapter in his life by becoming an evangelical pastor. According to Drivetvnews, the Brazilian footballer shared this news on his social media platforms, marking a significant turn in his personal journey.

Firmino, along with his wife, was officially ordained at a church they established three years ago, with the ordination ceremony held last Sunday in his hometown of Maceio.

In a heartfelt statement, Firmino revealed that becoming a pastor was not part of his original plans but emerged as a calling following a spiritual transformation. “Since our encounter with Christ, a deep desire has burned in our hearts… for people to experience this love that has touched us. Now, we have another responsibility… to shepherd according to God’s heart and to advance His Kingdom,” Firmino expressed.

The 32-year-old also expressed gratitude to pastors Jairo and Keila for their unwavering faith and support on his spiritual journey.

During his time at Liverpool from 2015 to 2023, Firmino enjoyed considerable success, winning seven major trophies including the 2019/20 Premier League and the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League titles.

He has also represented the Brazilian national team, notably featuring in the 2018 World Cup.

Currently, Roberto Firmino continues to pursue his football career with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, where last season he contributed nine goals and seven assists in 34 appearances.
