The Nigerian gospel music industry is in mourning following the death of Aduke Ajayi, widely known as Aduke Gold. The announcement of her passing was made by her colleague, Esther Igbeke, who shared the news on Instagram on Monday.

In her tribute, Esther posted a photo of Aduke Gold with the caption: “A general has fallen. RIP.” The exact details surrounding Aduke Gold’s death have not been disclosed.

Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music scene, Aduke Gold had made a notable impact with her uplifting music. Her breakout single, “Nitori 0go” (meaning ‘Because of Glory’), from her acclaimed eight-track album, received widespread praise on social media.

Her death comes just six months after the passing of another notable gospel artist, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.

In a separate development, six members of a family were found dead in Obehie, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State. Neighbors discovered the bodies in the Isi Obehie community, leaving local residents and neighboring villages in shock.

The exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but a community source suggested that generator fumes might be responsible. There are also unconfirmed reports of a potential ‘spiritual attack.’ The deceased include three children, their mother, the mother’s sister, and her brother-in-law. The father, who was not home at the time, is the only surviving member of the family.

The family, originally from another local government area in Abia State, had been residing in Obehie prior to the incident. The identities of those who passed away have not been publicly released, but ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, confirmed the incident to Daily Post.
