Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman (VDM), has addressed the ongoing dispute between Afrobeats star Burna Boy and controversial rapper Speed Darlington, a conflict that has sparked intense online reactions.

Speed Darlington, currently in police custody following his rearrest, has faced widespread backlash for his repeated verbal attacks on Burna Boy and his mother. The situation escalated after Darlington made further inflammatory statements, which many considered to have crossed the line.

In a video shared on December 7, VDM disclosed Burna Boy’s decision to shift his approach to the matter. Rather than pursuing criminal charges, the music icon has opted to file a civil lawsuit. Reports indicate that Burna Boy is seeking legal measures, including a court order to prevent further defamatory remarks from Darlington and a significant financial penalty.

VDM criticized Speed Darlington’s actions, describing them as reckless and deserving of legal consequences. At the same time, he highlighted concerns about the misuse of power. While he supported Burna Boy’s choice to resolve the matter through legal channels, VDM cautioned against leveraging influence to unjustly detain individuals with limited resources over verbal disputes.

This legal battle reflects Burna Boy’s intent to address defamatory remarks while igniting debates about fairness and accountability in public conflicts. Social media users remain divided, with some backing Burna Boy’s actions and others questioning the morality of taking legal action against Darlington’s controversial behavior.
