A woman named Rahab Emmanuel, who narrowly escaped a mob attack in Abuja over allegations of stealing a man’s manhood, has shared her version of the incident. The 37-year-old housewife revealed her side of the story to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner for Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu.
Emmanuel, a mother of four children, explained that a neighbor had asked her to wash her children’s clothes. While looking for the neighbor’s house, she encountered a man who gave her N200 to buy biscuits for her child. As she moved around, the man accused her of causing his manhood to stop functioning and raised a false alarm.
“I was going round looking for the woman’s house that asked me to come and wash clothes for her; the man now followed me and raised an alarm, accusing me of having done something, claiming that his manhood was not functioning anymore. I told him I didn’t know anything and my hands were clean,” Emmanuel stated.
When the incident became known, a mob gathered, tied her hands, and began beating her. Fortunately, neighbors recognized her and contacted her husband, who arrived at the scene and reported the matter to the police.
The FCT Commissioner for PCC emphasized the seriousness of the case and urged the police to swiftly take action to ensure justice for Emmanuel. This incident comes after the FCT Commissioner of Police warned against vigilante justice, highlighting that many cases of manhood theft accusations are false.
