At least three teachers and six students sustained severe injuries when a bus transporting pupils from Zenith Group of School, located in Akeyo, Muslim area of Ibadan, Oyo State, crashed along Akala Expressway. The students were on an excursion when the accident occurred.
The incident happened early Friday morning, reportedly due to brake failure. The bus lost control, overturned, and crossed into the opposite lane.
A student who was on board mentioned that the school’s proprietor was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders, including officers from the Nigeria Police Force and the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), quickly arrived at the scene. The injured were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, while other students were taken to the Kuola Divisional Headquarters of the Nigerian Police in Ibadan.
