Meta founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently underwent surgery to address a torn knee ligament, specifically an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear sustained while training for an upcoming mixed martial arts tournament. He shared his recovery journey on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the medical professionals involved and detailing his plans moving forward.
Zuckerberg, aged 39, has taken a keen interest in MMA, particularly during the pandemic period. His involvement transcended casual interest, leading him to construct an octagonal fighting ring in his backyard for dedicated training sessions. Despite his injury setback, he remains committed to his MMA aspirations, albeit with a slight delay due to his recovery process.
In May, Zuckerberg ventured into competitive sports by participating in his first Jiu-Jitsu tournament. His dedication and training paid off as he secured both gold and silver medals for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu team. He acknowledged the crucial role played by his trainers, namely Dave Camarillo, Khai Wu, and James Terry, in his success.
The Meta founder shared glimpses of his post-surgery experience, including images from his hospital bed and moments of care from his wife, showcasing his resilience and determination throughout his recovery journey.
